El Cordova Hotel

This so called boutique hotel is nothing more than an old mansion turned into a hotel. The property has a big courtyard and the entire property, which is no bigger than a big mansion hosts 3 restaurants. One of the restaurants is in the middle of the courtyard and is very popular. Imagine the noise on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday starting around 9AM as they get ready for business. Between the cleaning crew, the loud music and the customers the experience is more like staying in a restaurant with a room than a Hotel with a restaurant. We got a 1 bedroom which is supposed to have a full kitchen, dinning table, etc - all lies. The hotel staff refused to change our room and did not take responsibility for the issues because we booked and prepay online. The room was not very clean and the sofa bed had old dirty sheets, which the hotel staff refused to change because housekeeping had already gone home. I was just on a quick over-night business trip. The rate was within my budget, staff was friendly, and dining (for dinner) was close by with several choices. (I was up and gone before 0600, so I don't know about breakfast.) I checked in early on a Sunday evening and there was no nearby parking. (I believe they may have underground, but my off-road rig with a roof rack wouldn't fit.) I needed to sit in the lobby to access their Wi-Fi, but the young lady said they are currently adding more service. Overall the El Cordova is a nice charming hotel, for a romantic getaway (not really for business, no facilities to conduct business that is business office for guest use). I would most certainly use again. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I was in a one bedroom suite with one queen bed with a huge walk in closet, the bathroom was quite small, however the bedroom was a comfortable size as was the separate living area. The room had an air conditioner, small fridge, microwave, stove and cooking/eating utensils. Very close to shops, restaurants, etc. about 2 blocks from the beach.
